Homemaker (Home Care): Assistance to persons having difficulty with one or more of the following instrumental activities of daily living; preparing meals, shopping for personal items, managing money, accessing available transportation services, medication management, using the telephone or housekeeping. Homemaker services in our district are provided by Homecare Workers through the Client Employed Provider Program.

How Service is provided

Home Care: This program is funded with Senior Property Tax Deferral Program through the Department of Human Services under Oregon Project Independence (OPI) and provides in-home services to persons sixty years of age and older not receiving Medicaid funded assistance. Some services provided under this program are such things as house cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, etc. Clients must be assessed to determine eligibility. The in-home providers (Home Care Workers) are registered with the Home Care Commission Home Care Registry. All providers have had a criminal background check and orientation to the home care work. Clients are encouraged to check providers’ references prior to hiring them.

The program is designed to work as follows:

  • Client hires and supervises the provider
  • AAA staff authorizes services and pays provider on behalf of client (services provided on a sliding fee scale).
