Public Outreach and Education
Service Definition
Public Outreach/Education
These activities are targeted to provide information
to groups of current or potential clients and/or to aging network
partners and other community partners regarding available services
or benefits for the elderly who are defined in the Older Americans
Act as a person age 60 or over. Examples of this type of service
would be participation in a community senior fair, publications,
publicity campaigns, other mass media campaigns, presentations at
local senior centers where information on OAA services is shared.
How Service is provided
Public Outreach:
We provide or present material to educate the public on health issues
and services available at various sites as well as to service groups
who serve the older citizen. Our Senior Advisory Council consists
of at least two members from Hood River, Wasco, Sherman, Gilliam,
and Wheeler counties. Members invite guest speakers from local aging
service providers to their monthly meeting to present information
and educate members about services they provide. Members, in turn,
take the information out to their communities. They also help set
the AAA plan for the five counties.
